Kenneth William Leavens

Kenneth William Leavens was born January 5, 1922 in Tacoma, WA and passed away on March 11, 2005 in Puyallup, WA. He attended Tacoma Public Schools and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1940. That same year he began work with the Northern Pacific Railroad, retiring 42 years later as an engineer with Burlington Northern Railroad/Amtrak passenger service. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippine Islands with the 158th Regimental Combat Team and earned the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star and two battle stars. Ken was a member of the Summit United Methodist Church, life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Masonic Lodge, member of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Afifi Shriners, the Tacoma Elks, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was preceded in death by his wife Lois, and is survived by son David and wife Shari, daughter Kay Fedor and husband John, grandchildren Bradley and Michael Leavens, Susan and John Adam Fedor. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summit United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Summit United Methodist Church or the Shriners Children's Hospital in Portland.
