Joseph E. Long A funeral will be held Friday, June 16th, 2006 for 85-year-old Joseph E. Long of Weingarten MO, who died Tuesday, June 13th at the Ste. Genevieve Care Center. He was born June 9th, 1921 in Weingarten, the son of Edward V. and Julia (Glaser) Long, who both preceded him in death. He married Berdella T. Figge on September 29th, 1948 in Zell. He is survived by three sons and two daughters in law, Paul Long of St. Louis, Ernest and Chris Long of Ste. Genevieve and Joseph and Rosa Long of Omaha, Nebraska; a brother and sister in law, Edward and Duella L. Long of St. Louis; a sister and brother in law, Anna Maria and Bernard Herman of Lawrenceton and seven grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Margie Knierim; and three sisters, Elizabeth Schilly, Edna Figge and Rosaline Schilly. Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Thursday, June 15th at the Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve. VFW and Legion services will be at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. He farmed most of his life and worked at Mississippi Lime for 22 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 150, VFW Post No. 2210, Rosary Sodality at Weingarten. He served his country with the “Bushmasters” during WW2. A funeral for 85-year-old Joseph E. Long of Weingarten will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 16th at the Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Weingarten. The Revs. James Hanson and William Wigand will co-officiate.
