Bert Lucero

Noverto "Bert" Montano Lucero born January 15, 1921, in Tucson, Arizona, died October 30, 2008, from multiple illnesses. He was a general contractor for 27 years and the first certified Building and General Inspection Supervisor for the City of Tucson. He retired after 17 years in 1972. Afterwards, he was a Building Inspector for the Federal Government (HUD).

Bert served as a Bushmaster in the U.S. Army, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered for Southern Arizona Search and Rescue Council. He was very patriotic, loved his family, friends and mariachi music. Survived by wife, Otilia "Tillie" Lucero; daughter, Rosalie and son-in-law, Louie Cooper; two grandchildren, Judy and Elizabeth (William); three great-grandchildren, Maricela (Beau), Joel and Savannah; two great-great-grandchildren, Gabriela and Tristain; one brother, Rudy (Elvita) Lucero, extended family members and good friend, Jim Hidden. Rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2008. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 300 S. Tucson Blvd. Entombment will follow at Holy Hope Mausoleum with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association.
