world-class attractions , beautiful parks, Hotel Information The reunion officially begins on Friday, June 4th and ends on Monday, June 7th . You will be staying at the full service Embassy Suites Kansas City Airport, located at 7640 NW Tiffany Springs Parkway, Kansas City, MO 64153. The hotel is located close to many of the area’s top attractions. The room rate is $99.00 plus tax per night, based on single or double occupancy. The rate includes complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast buffet daily and the nightly manager’s reception each day. Please make your hotel reservations NOW by calling the hotel directly at 816-891-7788 between 9-4 pm CST and ask for inhouse reservations. Mention that you are with the 158th Regiment Reunion to assure you are associated with your group. You may request specific room types when you call to make your reservations (handicap accessible room, etc.). The hotel check-in time is 3:00pm; please don’t expect to get into your room before then. Make your reservations today; you can cancel up to 48 hours prior to arrival without penalty. They will ask you for a deposit or credit card number to guarantee your room reservation. The hotel is holding rooms until they sell out or April 16th, 2010, whichever comes first. Don’t delay.Transportation & Directions The closest airport is Kansas International (MCI); the Embassy Suites Hotel offers complimentary shuttle service from the Kansas City Airport. Upon arrival at the airport call using the free courtesy phone in the Baggage Claim area. For those of you driving, the hotel offers plenty of free parking. 158TH REGIMENTAL COMBAT TEAMBUSHMASTER EAST ASSOCIATION 2010 REUNION EVENTS EVENT A: TRUMAN LIBRARY & MUSEUM, INDEPENDENCE TOUR & HALLMARK Saturday, June 5th (9:30am-3:30pm) Board your luxury coach for the short drive to Independence, Missouri, home of Harry Truman, one of the most fiery and colorful presidents of our time. You will see the courthouse where Truman served as county Judge and the Summer White House before visiting the Truman Library & Museum. The museum provides an in depth look into both the professional and private life of the 33rd President of the United States. The Truman Library & Museum recounts the life of America's 33rd president, and is one of only 13 U.S. Presidential Libraries in the United States. The museum's historical collection consists of approximately 30,000 objects -- including hundreds of Truman family possessions, political memorabilia, diplomatic gifts and 1,300 letters from the Truman courtship and marriage. Following the museum visit, enjoy a riding tour of Independence , then time for lunch on your own in Historic Independence Square, an area that once served as the rallying point for wagon trains heading west. As you return to Kansas City, you will stop at the Hallmark Visitor’s Center. Here, you will enter a world of creativity and celebration. Learn of the humble beginnings in 1910, to the creation of world-famous greeting cards, keepsake ornaments , and Hallmark Hall of Fame television series. EVENT B: KANSAS CITY TOUR & STEAMBOAT ARABIA MUSEUM Sunday, June 6th (9:30am-3:30pm) Board your coach with your experienced guide for a city tour which begins back in the 1800’s in “The Town of Kansas”. As you learn of the old riverfront beginnings of Kansas City, you will drive through the Quality Hill area, Lewis & Clark Point, and the historic business area. You will stop at Union Station, one of the largest remaining Renaissance -style stations in the United States. Lunch will be on your own at River Market area. Home to the largest open air market in the mid-west, the River Market offers many restaurants, and shops, all set amongst quaint historical buildings. Spend the afternoon at the Steamboat Arabia Museum. Steamboats once were plentiful on the Missouri River between St Louis and Kansas City, both for commerce and for migration of settlers to the west. The Steamboat Arabia sunk in the waters of the mighty river in 1856. It was unearthed in a cornfield 132 years later with its precious cargo remarkably preserved in the mud. The museum tells the legendary tale of the loss and discovery of the Steamboat Arabia and its 200 tons of cargo. The museum collections include trade goods, clothes, canned foods and wines, giving you a rare glimpse into the past and details of frontier life seen nowhere else. You will walk away from the museum with a real sense of how people lived in the 1850's. BUSINESS MEETING Sunday, June 6th (4:00pm at the Hotel) The 158th Regimental Combat Team Annual Meeting will take place at the Hotel. Check your itinerary at registration for specific time and room location. There is no need to pre-register for the meeting. BANQUET DINNER Sunday, June 6 th (7:00pm at Hotel)Join all of your friends for your Banquet Dinner at the Hotel. Dinner will be served at 7:00pm. Please make your entrée selection on the reservation form. TOUR CANCELLATION INSURANCE Protect yourself from unforeseen expenses caused by sickness, injury or any other causes that impact your travel plans. This insurance enables a refund of Tour & Banquet expenses up until three (3) days before the start of your reunion. If you need to cancel – please call our office immediately (817-251-3551) for a cancellation number. If you have not purchased cancellation insurance, all tour and meal money is non-refundable 6 weeks prior to the reunion. Important Reunion Notes: ~ Tours may be cancelled if a minimum of 30 people per bus is not met. In this case, full refunds will be given. ~ Please understand that a certain amount of walking is necessary from the bus to attractions and in some instances, to also see the attractions. Please consider your abilities before purchasing tours. ~ Be sure to bring photo identification (like a driver’s license) on all events. ~ All tour times are subject to change. A final itinerary is available at registration. Reservations are due by April 16 th, 2010. Late reservations accepted on a space available basis with a non refundable $10 per person late fee. Sorry, no refunds will be given starting 3 days before the reunion for any reason. There is a $10 per person refund processing fee. Your cancelled check is your receipt and proof of purchase. There is a $25 return check fee for NSF. For a written confirmation please enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope. MRP will not be held liable for failure of vendors to provide contracted services or any injuries/accidents that may occur during the reunion.
